Flexion-Distraction Relieves Pain Better than Medical Conservative Treatment In an article published in European Spine Journal researchers report on the outcomes of the federally funded, U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration comparison study between chiropractic conservative care (flexion-distraction) and medical conservative care (active exercise physical therapy) for low back pain:
“Subjects randomly allocated to the flexion-distraction group had significantly greater relief from pain that those allocated to the exercise program.”
“Overall, flexion-distraction provided more pain relief than active exercise.”
“Patients with radiculopathy (leg pain) did significantly better with flexion-distraction.”
Whiplash

Whiplash Must Be Treated Correctly
• Only 12% of cervical spine whiplash (neck pain) injuries are well at 10.8 year follow-up study. Treatment must be given soon after injury, within 2 years, since symptoms are not changed after that.
• Dizziness or vertigo can result from damage to the nerve receptors in the neck from whiplash injury. Chiropractic was able to alleviate 90.2 % of the symptoms after 18 treatments when the dizziness was due to neck induced dizziness.
• Rear-end collisions cause chronic symptoms such as head and neck pain, stiffness, disequilibrium, emotional disturbances such as anxiety and depression, and dizziness. These patients originally were told they had minor soft tissue injury that would heal on its own.
• Patients with neck pain show significantly less strength of the neck muscles than normal individuals.
• Headaches and neck pain are the most common symptoms of whiplash injury-whiplash to the neck results in chronic symptoms of headache, neck pain in up to 40% of people, hearing loss, and visual changes also. Tearing of the discs at the C4-C5, C5-6, and C6-7 levels are common as well as C2-3 joint damage to cause pain and headaches.
